There have been times, in the duration of days, months, even years, in my life when I felt completed flattened and worthless, just like a roadkill - run over by circumstances, people, complete with tire marks (and knives from being stabbed) on my back.
There is no worse feeling...it's so lonely, humiliating to be unseen, ignored, passed by, used up, wrung dry, then discarded like an empty grocery bag.
Maybe you know this feeling, too.
It can seem like it is a hopeless task to pull the nose of the airplane up. But, there is just one thing to remember: This thing, whatever it is/was, is the key to your greatness. It is the clearer clue to why you are here on earth. Getting through it, rising above it, or just plain surviving it...that is your gift to this world.
Our individual shitty times are what we learn from and it's this knowledge given to us to share with others. It gives us deep empathy for other people, profound wisdom on what true priorities are, and a knowledge that no text book could ever teach. It is something we claim so that we can help others, in some way or another.
That knife that cuts your soul wide open is the way that lets your light out.
So, if you are in the midst of a "thing," there is always one more breath = one more moment closer to pulling up. Close your eyes for one moment and inhale deeply and slowly. Then grab that light that is coming out.
"So far, you've survived 100% of your worst days." Unknown
