So many people marvel at full trees with beautiful full branches because they're so captivating to behold. We do the same thing when we look at others' lives, marveling at a distance, the foliage.
Many people ignore what's not seen...the roots that hold the mighty trees upright on both still and stormy days. Like a tree that is only full on the top, our lives are at risk of topping over the moment a strong wind or problem passes through.
In the same way, most people opt to reach only to the ethereal, spiritual practices that focus on enlightenment because they've been told that this is what eliminates their pain. Reach only to the light with deep breaths and positive breathing..
But being top heavy sets them up to be toppled over whenever problems arise, creating a continuous loop between breakage and spiritual repair.
Another approach is to go to the roots, sometimes to the still deep waters, understanding one's foundation so that the "winds" of challenge have no swaying influence. Knowing what is in the dark, hidden realms is where we can find our grounding, and our biggest strengths when transmuted and integrated.
Being "spiritual" doesn’t mean that the winds never come but rather simply keep you grounded in your truth so that nothing pulls you off course.
It's in the roots, in the dirt, into the still deep waters that provide the greatest peace and light. What lurks in the dark is what most folks fear (coincidently, the root chakra revolves around fear / security). And yet, without a clear and strong foundation in our grounding and in our root chakra, the higher bodies sway in the slightest breeze.
So when searching for your strength, don't forget to look at what your roots hold for you, even in their darkest crevices.
