We have been socialized for generations to search for our life's treasure outside of ourselves without knowing that it's right beneath our feet. Where else do you find gold? In the ground that you stand at this moment.
I talk a lot about the still deep waters because so few people do. That's a shame because in those depths lies your true power, tangled within those experiences that we'd rather not look at, denying the gift it had intended to give us.
It's like, perhaps, you're not-so-favorite person showing up at your door with a gift. You might first throw up in your mouth at the sight of her, but then open the door slightly just enough to be able to snatch the gift halfway before slamming the door with it in the middle, crushing the gift and rudely shutting out that person.
What if I told you that this person had a gift that only could be opened without damage by inviting her into your living room? What if there was a roadmap, a cheatsheet that taught you exactly how to allow both of you to sit calmly together without any type of imposed politeness which allowed you to put aside any past energetic charge so you could catch up with calmness, share what you learned since you last saw each other, and listen to each other with clarity?
And what if I told that, as you talked, she gave the gift to you which, as you opened as the conversation continued, turned out to be the most unearthly magical glowing sphere so beautiful that it required no battery or any type of external power source? It was the only one of its kind and she gave it to YOU. You'd be amazed that it's beauty only increased as you continue to lightly chat and honestly listen to what each other had to say.
And as any good guest, this person knew when it was time to go, to not overstay her invitation, and decided to leave on her own and you were grateful for the chance to visit honestly.
But that gift, oh, that beautiful glowing sphere just continued to glow every brighter, changing colors like a rainbow in the sprinklers on a sunny day and fill the space that she once sat in! This gift, this enchanting glowing sphere is YOUR light - something unique to you. Something that can only grow when you accept it and give it space.
Well, that's the kind of treasure I'm talking about that all of us have right under our feet. That's where our gold is...deep in the roots that up to now, have only been raked over roughly, layered upon by fresh sod, passed over quickly as we moved onto the next distraction to deal with.
It's the kind of gift that I wish we all had the courage to take. You're strong enough to receive it. And I do know, for sure, without a shadow of a doubt, even if we never meet face to face, that you deserve it. It is your birthright to have that glowing power unique to you.
